The program consists of a minimum of four educational sessions as well as medication when appropriate.
The program provides education about:
- Nicotine withdrawal – what to expect and how to cope
- How to avoid unwanted side effects associated with quitting
- Setting realistic goals
- Dealing with relapse
- Nicotine replacement therapy and other medication options
The program includes prescriptions for tobacco cessation products when appropriate.
Tobacco cessation programs and the medications associated with them may be covered by insurance. Please contact your benefits office to determine if this program is a covered benefit.
