Patients at Essentia Health-Deer River Clinic will soon be able to receive care from a vascular medicine specialist close to home. Dr. Ayad Jindeel will begin seeing patients in Deer River at the end of June. He already cares for patients in Duluth and Superior.
A veteran hospital leader with a strong background in Catholic health care has been named President of St. Mary’s/Clearwater Valley Hospitals and Clinics.
Essentia Health will sponsor the “Life After Breast Cancer" conference Tuesday, June 25, at Fargo’s Holiday Inn, 803 13th Ave. S. It’s a day devoted to educating and empowering breast cancer survivors and their network of family and friends.
July 9 is a special date for Patricia Wangler. On that day in 1999, she began her role as president at Essentia Health-Fosston (known then as First Care Medical Services). Exactly 14 years later, Wangler will retire and leave the care of the hospital to a new administrator.
Essentia Health-Wahpeton Clinic is in the midst of a facelift. The exterior of the 22-year-old brick building will be completely remodeled this summer. Energy-efficient roofing materials will be installed, along with new windows and synthetic stucco exterior walls.
Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Kohl’s Department Stores, will host its second annual “Alive with Life Jackets” event, which offers free life jackets and teaches water safety to children in the Duluth area. The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the Kohl’s parking lot at 2115 Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth.
Dr. Brad Buell has joined the Otolaryngology Department at Essentia Heath’s South University Clinic in Fargo, N.D. Most recently, the experienced Ear, Nose and Throat doctor had his own practice in Bismarck, N.D.
Dr. Todd Gray, a urologist, is now seeing patients at Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes Clinic. He also has an active practice at Essentia Health in Fargo. Urologists treat a wide variety of conditions, from kidney stones to urinary incontinence to male infertility.
The Arthritis Foundation wants to help educate the residents of Crosslake and surrounding communities with the “What is my joint pain telling me?” free educational seminar. They have partnered with local experts from Essentia Health and Northern Orthopedics to share information on warning signs and treatment options. The event is from 4-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at Crosslake Community Center, 14126 Daggett Pine Road in Crosslake.
Starting this summer, the emergency department at Essentia Health-Holy Trinity Hospital will offer a new high-tech tool. A telemedicine connection between Graceville and the emergency medicine specialists at Essentia Health-Fargo will give patients with serious health emergencies the chance to be seen by caregivers from both facilities at the same time.
Dr. Mohamed sees each patient as a unique individual and tailors his care. “If we can’t prevent or cure your disease, we can help you regain your quality of life,” he says.
Anyone with questions about foot health is invited to a Spring Foot Fair at  Essentia Health-Ashland Clinic . The community event takes place 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23. The Foot Fair will include free foot exams, heel scans, foot massages, education about foot conditions and refreshments. There will be goodie bags for the first 50 people who attend.
Kempton earned a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.
Physician Assistant Mark Klabo has joined Essentia Health’s clinic in Valley City, N.D. He’ll care for both adults and children.
The Essentia Health Regional Foundation was awarded a $4,000 matching grant from Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF). The money will go to Essentia’s Hope and Healing Fund, which is used to address areas of greatest need at Essentia Health. The funds will support Essentia’s mission to make a healthy difference in people’s lives through patient care programs, community health initiatives, medical education, research, facility development and technology advancements.
Long-time Ely physician Dr. Joe Bianco was honored for his contributions to medicine last week. He was named Physician of the Year for Essentia Health’s East Region, which includes northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.
