Ramin Artang, MD

Dr. Artang graduated from the University of Copenhagen School of Medicine in 1994 after which he served a year in the Royal Danish Army prior to starting his clinical work and PhD research studies on cardiovascular disease and pathophysiology of blood clot formation. He completed his training in Cardiology in United States in 2007. Dr. Artang was director of Cardiac and Vascular imaging at Mercy Medical Center in Iowa and faculty at the University of Nebraska Medical Center prior to joining Essentia. He is the director of Clinical Education and Advanced Cardiac Imaging at Essentia Heath/St. Mary’s heart and Vascular Center. He also serves as assistant professor of Medicine at the Division of Cardiology at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where is involved in training and education of cardiology fellows and has ongoing research activities. He has published several papers in basic and clinical science and has presented his work at national and international cardiology, thrombosis and Imaging related meetings on many occasions.

Dr. Artang’s research interest is the new anticoagulation treatments. He is furthermore interested in advanced cardiac imaging including Cardiac MRI, 3D echocardiography and cardiac CT.

His clinical interest is in patients with valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, Diastolic heart, thromboembolic diseases and vascular medicine.
