- Support and encourage you before surgery or during your treatment
- Help you through a difficult diagnosis or a difficult decision
- Discuss life-altering choices and assist with advance care planning
- Honor your religious, spiritual, ethnic and cultural needs and rituals
- Provide quiet spaces and chapels for prayer and meditation
- Support and comfort you during times of loss, illness, pain, trauma or grief
- Facilitate the connection and visits with members of your faith community
- Sponsor TV channels for services, reflection and mediation (not in all locations)
- Share inspirational resources for a broad range of belief systems such as Bibles, prayer books, prayers cards and others.

Who Can Receive Spiritual Care?
Spiritual Care is available free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Whatever your spiritual or cultural background, you can trust our team of chaplains to provide care and support while honoring your beliefs and spiritual needs.
How Do I Receive Spiritual Care?
Chaplains are available 24/7, you and your loved ones can request a chaplain through your health care team. Your doctors or nurses may also recommend spiritual care.
Where Can I Receive Spiritual Care?
Spiritual care is available to all patients and families at most Essentia Health hospitals. It is also offered at some clinics. Ask a member of your care team about what spiritual services are available at your location.
Team-Based Approach
Our chaplains are full members of your health care team. That means your doctors and nurses will integrate your spiritual needs into your treatment plan in a way that works best for you and your loved ones.
Visitors
All faith groups are welcome to visit and provide support to their members with the patient's permission. Our chaplains can help facilitate these visits.
