What’s Urogynecology?
Urogynecology is a specialty for patients with female reproductive organs who have issues with urinating/fecal incontinence; also known as pelvic floor disorder.
When to See a Specialist
If you notice a loss of bladder control (incontinence), difficulty emptying bladder completely, or frequent urinary tract infection, making an appointment with a urogynecologist may be necessary.
Symptoms can include the following:
- A bulge or something visibly coming out of the vagina
- Heaviness, fullness, pulling, or aching in the vagina that is worse at the end of the day or during a bowel movement
- Having a hard time peeing or emptying your bladder completely
- Leaking pee when you cough, laugh, or exercise
- Having frequent urinary tract infections
