RCAP Mission
To facilitate safe, ethical, and high-quality human subjects research.
Aim
Continuous improvement in the protection of human subjects in research and promotion of high-quality documentation and conduct of research.
The mission and aim are achieved through:
- Quality assurance – Help researchers, and Essentia as a whole, achieve and maintain compliance with organizational policies and federal regulations governing research
- Compliance education – Collaborate with the Essentia Institutional Review Board (IRB) to provide proactive education for the research community
- Assistance – Support investigators throughout the research process
Goals of the RCAP
RCAP’s goals are to verify and promote:
- The rights, welfare, and safety of human subjects participating in research at Essentia Health
- Compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements governing human subjects research
- Integrity of research and human research protection activities at Essentia Health
- Education, training, and research submission assistance for research stakeholders, investigators, research staff, research review board members, and students involved in human subjects research
- Evaluation and follow-up of quality assurance, quality improvement initiatives, corrective actions, and the implementation of new quality improvement activities
RCAP Assistance
Take advantage of RCAP’s wide range of support services and education to make sure you’re complying with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as institutional policies.
Routine & Quality Assurance On-Site Reviews
If you’re a principal investigator or study staff member, request an RCAP on-site study review to ensure your study documentation complies with the regulatory requirements for protocol adherence, record keeping, and informed consent. You’ll receive corrective actions and quality improvement recommendations if necessary.
Study Consultation
Through every phase of your study, the RCAP compliance specialist can meet with your research team to help identify and address regulatory concerns that may cause delays or impede the progress of your research.
