Training Requirements for Essentia Health Researchers
To demonstrate Essentia Health's commitment to the protection of the rights and welfare of human research subjects by ensuring that all parties involved in conducting, supporting, reviewing and/or overseeing research involving human subjects demonstrate and maintain knowledge of the ethical principles and regulatory requirements governing the protection of human research subjects.
Who Must Complete the Training?
Essentia Health has established training requirements for all individuals involved in any of the following:
- The conduct of human subjects research
- Supporting human subjects research
- Reviewing human subjects research
- Oversight of human subjects research
What Courses are Required?
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Human Subjects Protections (HSP); and
- Conflicts of Interest (COI)
How Do I Get Started?
These courses are available through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program (CITI Program).
- If you are new to CITI, register for a CITI account on the CITI website.
- If you already have a CITI account, log in to the CITI website using your CITI username and password. If you forget your username and/or password, go to CITI Support for assistance. Essentia Health HRPP/IRB staff is not able to assist with CITI password resets.
After you have logged in to CITI, register for and complete at least one GCP course, one HSP course, and the FCOI course. Learn more about the CITI program and how to complete the courses.
