Girls Can Build" Summer Day Camps in Spooner
Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity in Spooner created a new program, Girls Can Construct - Summer Day Camps, for young women and girls who are interested in skilled trades such as construction, plumbing and automotive repair.
Led by female mentors, 84 girls participated in the program over the last year, building projects and learning the value of planning and patience that comes with learning a new skill. The group also builds one large project together, such as picnic tables, and planters, which are all donated to low-income families participating in Wild Rivers home construction programs.
Essentia Supports Active Living
Barnum School District recently received a $7,500 grant from Essentia Health to support recreation facilities in the community.
The funding will go towards developing indoor pickleball courts at Barnum Elementary, outdoor pickleball courts at Robert Johnson Memorial Park and a frisbee golf course at Barnum High School.
Essentia Health Volunteers in Action
Kudos to our Essentia Health colleagues in Fosston and surrounding communities for celebrating and supporting youth heading back to school! Volunteers handed out apples and smiles to students at 5 local elementary schools.
